How do I Am the Agent compare to YOPA?

We recently put together a little piece for those who are weighing up the pros and cons of online estate agents, with a direct comparison of Purple Bricks’ services and charges with those of I Am the Agent. If you missed it, here’s the link.

Let’s look at Yopa.

If you are looking to sell in London, they will charge you an eye-watering upfront fee of £1,140, and for that they are offering only six months marketing time (see their terms). Yopa will market properties outside  London for the same period for £780. At the six month term, it equates to £190 per month for Londoners to market your property (£130 for outside London). Compare that to I Am the Agent’s upfront fee for selling a property of just £399. We offer a marketing period of twelve months on Rightmove and Zoopla as standard; that comes in at just £33 per month wherever you are as we don’t discriminate geographically!

If you want to take advantage of the Yopa pay later option, you will have to sign up to a credit facility agreement with their bank (a separate agreement from the one you have signed up to with Yopa) with all the consequences that entails. And don’t forget the cash is likely to be taken from your account at exactly the time you need it most when you have the expenses of moving to contend with.
 
We do like their crazy ads though, there is nothing like the Village People being compared to an estate
agency …

Property Price   £60,000

Local Agent: 1.5% fee for the above property value = £900

I Am The Agent : £399 including photos, board and valuation

Saving: £501


Yopa (outside London): £780

Saving: just £120 BUT if you add on a viewing @ £150 you are not saving anything at all!

And now an example for a London property:

Property Price   £250,000

Local Agent: 1.5% fee for the above property value = £3,750

I Am The Agent : £399 including photos, board and valuation

Saving: £3,351

Yopa (inside London): £1,140

Saving: just £2,610 BUT if you add on a viewing @ £250 your saving goes down to £2,360
