Play Monopoly, Premier League Style, with Online Estate Agency, I Am The Agent

The football season has commenced and the famous transfer window is about to slam shut on September 2nd – which means footballers across the country will face a nervous wait to see whether they’ll be snapped up or sold on by a team looking to bolster their squad.

Over the coming weeks, footballers will be moving around the country like a giant game of musical chairs, and there are some definite hotspots that attract those who demand a lavish lifestyle to match their giant pay packets. At I Am The Agent, the UK’s premier online estate agency, we have our fingers firmly on the pulses of all the most in-demand postcodes – let’s take a look at some of the most sought-after locations for the nation’s Premier League megastars.

Cheshire’s ‘Golden Triangle’

The three points of Cheshire’s so-called ‘Golden Triangle’ are Hale Barns, Knutsford and Alderley Edge, and the area within the triangle features prestigious addresses like Wilmslow and Prestbury. With a multitude of top tier football clubs in the region, including the two Manchester clubs, and easy access to Liverpool, Stoke, Wigan and Blackburn, it’s little wonder footballers flock to Cheshire’s Golden Triangle in their dozens.

Perhaps the most famous footballer to currently reside in the area is Wayne Rooney, with a sought-after Prestbury postcode to his name. The Manchester United striker demolished a 1930s mansion in order to build his neo-Georgian mansion, valued at around £4m – and he was sure to kit it out with a triple garage, cinema room, indoor swimming pool and even a state-of-the-art golfing simulator.

The area is ideal for raising a family, which is perhaps why many well-off families flock there, with multitudes of affluent private schools and plenty of privacy for famous faces.

Cobham

When Chelsea Football Club decided to build their new training complex in the Surrey town of Cobham, they gave the signal for a wave of footballers to move into mansions in the area. Current manager Jose Mourinho likes all of his team to live in close proximity to the training ground, so naturally, players continue to flood into the region, buying up ‘trophy houses’ in Cobham and nearby Oxshott. Nicknamed the ‘Beverley Hills of Britain’, the area is rural enough to offer the mega-rich the privacy they demand, but also close enough to London to allow them links to anywhere in the world.

London

The thriving capital is an obvious hotspot for footballers, especially those who are not raising a family yet. With five London clubs in the Premier League this season, you can hardly swing a cat in London without bumping into a pro!

Ex-star Thierry Henry recently renovated his London home in order to incorporate a fish tank worth £250,000 – or a week’s wages to some of the world’s top earning stars. The forty-foot high tank is visible from every floor inside the townhouse, which also has an underground gym (complete with personal changing rooms), a master dressing room and a biodiverse living roof. And to think, this is only the Arsenal legend’s second home – his main residence is in New York! No word yet on how much the bill for his fish food will be…
