I Am The Agent highlights homeowner concerns when it comes to selling

I Am The Agent, one of the country’s most successful online estate agents, has revealed the top three concerns from homeowners when it comes to selling a house online.

The online giant, which has many years’ experience working within the competitive property market, has noted that the length of time taken to sell, the level of enquiries and the costs associated with selling online are the three topics those choosing between an online and a high street estate agent worry about. However the agent, which prides itself on offering a different type of sales package, has reiterated the online sector’s commitment to getting results where it matters – for the homeowner.

Rebecca Peach, Managing Director of I Am The Agent, said, “When it comes to selling a home, which is usually the single most expensive thing anyone will buy, you want to make sure it is in good hands and you are able to get the most amount of money for your home – whether you are wanting to move to pastures new or selling an investment property. No one wants to hang around for months waiting for a buyer only to left hundreds of pounds out of pocket, so it’s not surprising that these are the some of the main concerns for buyers.”

According to research, the national average time to sell a house is six weeks, however many houses are left lingering on the market for much longer, with some even running into years. The average high street estate agent charges between 1 and 3.5% of the selling price once everything is signed on the dotted line, and with the average house costing £218,964, homeowners can end up paying thousands of pounds upon sale which eats into their profits.

Online agents however work in a different way; users simply pay an upfront fee in exchange for a listing on their site and all the relevant marketing and assistance homeowners have come to expect from estate agents. However despite offering lucrative deals, there have been some horror stories from customers, such as no or very little interest in their property and being forced to pay despite not securing a sale.

“There has been numerous stories of people essentially being left high and dry by some online agents, and this only fuels these concerns,” added Rebecca. “As a person passionate about property, this is extremely worrying as it has somewhat overshadowed the incredible benefits of selling a house online. As a ‘people’s estate agent’, we offer clients 12 months marketing time, longer than any leading online estate agent and we work closely with our clients throughout the process, providing property performance reports and up to date valuation as well as providing hands on support from our expert team, whenever you need it.”
