What colours are hot for 2017?

Every year the housing industry is awash with predictions for what will be the go-to colours and interior trends for the coming year. Whether you own your own home and want to give it a trendy lift, are renting a pad and just want to add some homely touches in this year’s most stylish colours, or looking to sell your house and bring it up to date, we’re saving you the hassle of trekking through endless Pinterest boards or flicking through interior magazines by highlighting which shades you should be adding to your home this year.

Dark green looks set to be one of the most popular colours of 2017, with sage and khakis rising through the ranks. When Pantone released their colour predictions for spring 2017, ‘Kale’ was one that really stood out, while fellow earthy tone, ‘Hazelnut’, also tempted us towards calming, musky pinks. Although this announcement only covered the coming season, these are two of the standout colours that will complement the ever popular ‘Scandinavian’ trend that we are seeing everywhere right now, as well as the cosy, textured trend that’s been hanging around for quite some time. Therefore we are certain they will continue to be prominent right through to 2018.

Warm tones are set to make a comeback in houses in 2017, replacing the cold, white trend that’s been hanging around for years. Taking inspiration from our European cousins, terracotta is one that’s set to make a comeback. We’re not suggesting you paint your walls terracotta, but use accessories to complement current colour schemes. If you’re thinking of making a big change however, you can always think about stripping walls back to the brick or investing in some industrial-inspired brick tiles for floors and walls.

If you’re a fan of grey tones, then your luck is in. Grey was one of the most popular colours of 2016, spreading across homeware to clothing and back again. However as previously mentioned, this year it’s all about comfort and cosiness, so forget pairing that grey throw with a bright white wall, you’ll want to put your beloved grey with deep, comforting colours. Navy is one of the most popular luxe colours for 2017, and what’s more, one that exudes comfort and cosiness. Therefore it’ll warm those grey tones up perfectly.
