I Am The Blog

The latest property news from your online estate agent.

Ever wondered what you could buy with £26 million?

Have you ever wanted to live on a cruise ship? Own a piece of the moon? How about owning the hunky rugby All Blacks player Dan Carter for 10 years? Mmm, now you're talking.

This is the question that we have been mulling over at I Am The Agent HQ since last week. We were dancing at our desks with our Directors when we proudly hit our 10,000th property listing last week [check it out here!] but what we didn't mention was the millions that we've saved our customers.

When it comes to finding, selling or renting properties online with I Am The Agent, by far the most-asked question is how much we're going to save our users. Here is a breakdown of what we've managed to do over the last 5 years!

Sales Agency Fees:

Let's use the average property price in the U.K. of £310,471 at an average commision of 1.5% (according to Home Owners Alliance ad Which). We're an honest and conservative bunch, so we have used the national average price rather than our average which is a LOT higher. On that figure, we’ve saved our owners a whopping total of £16,741,200 in estate agency fees. The average price of properties that come to the market for sale has been on the increase for the past 5 years, so the figures here are just a snapshot of what we've managed to save for all of our lovely property owners!

So now the fun bit … what could you buy for that? Here comes the dreamy moment:

How about a private jet to zoom your friends about or see your Gran in sunny Kilkenny, a snip at just under £11mn. You can also fill her up with some aviation fuel:

Check it out on AV Buyer.

 & perhaps Cheryl Tweedy's former eco-mansion for £5mn:

Rental agency fees that we have saved our clients:

The average rental property goes on the market in the UK for £939.00 according to the Rightmove, although we think it's more like £1,200 (plus the teeny, tiny small charges that our lovely counterparts hide from the landlord). But let's use Righmove's figures to be fair and on that basis at an 8% letting agency commission, we’ve saved our landlords a whopping total of £6,573,000 in letting agent fees.

Lights off, here I go again, here comes Roxane:

If you are in the market for the most beautiful yacht £6,700,000 gets you this little lady here: Burgess Yachts. We've left some change for beers, champers and some fuel.

Tenancy Fees:

Everyone knows that when searching for a property, you usually have to budget in not only the rent but also the estate agency and admin fees for the property you want. It costs tenants an average of £399 in tenancy fees to move into a property. [Source:TheTenantsVoice] So, we are pleased to say that we have managed to save our tenants a huge total savings of £3,351,600 in letting agent fees when moving into their new homes! We never tie-in anyone to our services, they choose what they want.

Ok, I think we need a motor to zoom around in. This F1 AMG Hyper car is the driving choice for us at a cool £3,000,000, if it's good enough for Lewis, it's good enough for Team IATA:

Our customers are at the heart of everything we do and we wouldn't have achieved this growth without you, so we are very, very pleased to have passed on such savings to our users. We want to banish the harsh fees and tricky negotiations, and make moving home a simple, trusted and happy process.

The property market is always changing, whether for richer or poorer, and we are happy to know that, whatever the situation, our customers will always be happy with their savings and they are at the centre of everything that we do here.

So, we're 10,000 properties-strong, with millions saved - we will keep counting the milestones as they come!

And if you're lucky enough to own £23 million - take a look at some ideas of how to spend your money here
